Art that is engaged
in change-making is relevant to humanity’s evolution as a social
species, by encouraging and supporting us in making the changes
necessary for our survival. During this time of growing climate and
social crises, we need work that challenges us to evolve for the
better. Relationships – interaction between individuals, our
histories and common future – are how we grow. It’s essential
that we take time to listen and know each other; to learn from each
other’s wisdom and stories. I hope that as artists we can give people space to be heard, to hear other
people, and to change and make change.
